How to find if Windows Defender is working or not?

It’s very easy to check whether the Windows Defender is running or not by just look for its icon in the Notification bar that is located in the task bar. It may be in the list from the hidden icons, so user can select the upward-pointing arrow and then view the castle icon. No need to worry in case if you don’t find it may still be running, or your personal computer might already be running another security program that do same task. If you are still not sure or you know your computer definitely doesn’t have an antivirus program or security suite and you don’t want to install one, here’s how to enable Windows Defender.

How to turn on Windows Defender?

Step 1: In the Start menu enter “Defender”. Windows Defender should appear in the list. Click on it to launch the program. If it’s previously running, and then you need to skip the step5 from the main window.

Step 2: You might see a message like the one below, showing that Defender is turned off and isn’t protecting your computer. If so, search for Action Center in the Start menu and run that.

Step 3: In Action Center, select on the “Security” option and check which program is managing spyware and unwanted application protection. If you like to enable Defender then instead of other suite like McAfee, you have to use the Control Panel to uninstall it.

Step 4: If you like to uninstall any antivirus programs then type Defender again in the Start menu and as soon as it turned off then you can able to view a message and click on to turn on Windows Defender.
